Picture-book "Moon in December" offers twelve short stories for very young readers inspired by illustrations by Pika Vončina. At first sight it may seem that the winter Moon is the main character, but there is a lot of unexpected happenings around him: snow-owls are having their great annual festival, there is a balloon race going on, the Moon serves as a springboard for the smallest fairy and as a perfect cheese-model for a mouse painter... When he's gone, four cats start looking for him, when he's back again, he'll hold a swing for three crazy dogs, howling contest winners...
Gentle, lively and concise, the stories are told in a simple way, creating the magic atmosphere all the same, always in close union with illustrations. PIka Vončina's work, delicate and playful, discreetly leaves enough place for readers' imagination.
Sanja Lovrenčić and Pika Vončina collaborate successfully since 2001, when they published the book for children "Four terrible Fuf-eaters and a little Fuffy" ("Grigor Vitez Award 2001" for the text). For the illustrations in the picture-book "Moon-rafting" Pika Vončina was awarded by "Grigor Vitez Award 2005" (text by S. Lovrenčić).
