Pika Vončina is renowned Croatian illustrator. She took A-levels at the Shool of Appliead Arts and Design and graduated from Academy of Arts in Zagreb. Up till now she illustrated about forty books for children. She is also illustrating textbooks for schools, and publishes illustrations in magazines for children.
She painted stage settings, props, posters and program booklets for the theatre "Mala scena", and designed a poster, booklet and portfolio for the international festival of theatre for children and youth "Milk-tooth".
Her work was exhibited in the Biennale of illustration in Bratislava, in 1995, 1997, 1999, 2001 and 2003, and in the selection of the same festival in Japan 1998 and 2000; she also participated at the Docet exhibition in Bologna 2003. In 1999 she won the Grigor Vitez prize for her illustrations in the book Wonderful adventures of apprentice Hlapić by Ivana Brlić Mažuranić; for the same work she was selected for the Honour list of IBBY.
For Authors' House she made its special sign and illustrated The Tale of Sigismunda and Krpimir, written by Sanja Lovrenčić.
